Immanuel Lutheran High School Alumni

The LORD gives a variety of gifts to us as human beings so that we might use them for the benefit of our neighbor and to His glory. 1 Peter 4:10: “As each one has received a gift, minister it to one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.”  Our lives are opportunities to use our God-given gifts for the benefit of others through our individual callings in our family, at work, in church, and in our society. We thank God for the gifts He richly gives to us as His children which are being used to His glory in so many ways! “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

While Immanuel doesn’t offer course variety like other schools, it still ends up with graduates serving in a large variety of vocations. While the world may glamorize certain vocations in life, Immanuel emphasizes using God-given gifts to serve Him and society as a whole. Some graduates pursue areas in the sciences, in particular engineering, some go on to serve faithfully as Christian mothers and fathers, and some go on to train to be pastors and teachers in the CLC.

Quotes from Martin Luther Regarding Vocation:

“A cobbler, a smith, a farmer, each has the work and office of his trade, and yet they are all alike consecrated priests and bishops, and every one by means of his own work or office must benefit and serve every other, that in this way many kinds of work may be done for the bodily and spiritual welfare of the community, even as all the members of the body serve one another”

“What you do in your house is worth as much as if you did it up in heaven for our Lord God … We should accustom ourselves to think of our position and work as sacred and well-pleasing to God, not on account of the position and work, but on account of the word and faith from which the obedience and the work flow”
