(NIV) For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come. This is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance. That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God, who is the Savior of all people

1. One thing’s needful; Lord this treasure
Teach me highly to regard;
All else, though it first give pleasure,

Beneath it the heart is still fretting and striving,

The gain of this one thing all loss can requite
And teach me in all things to find true delight.

Search my heart and my behavior,
Root out all hypocrisy.
Restrain me from wandering on pathways unholy
