Malachi 4:1–2 (Listen)
The Great Day of the Lord
4:1 “For behold, the day is coming, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble. The day that is coming shall set them ablaze, says the LORD of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. 2 But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wings. You shall go out leaping like calves from the stall.
Hymn: TLH 359: Christ, Whose Glory Fills the Sky
1. Christ, whose glory fills the skies,
Thou, the true, the only Light,
Sun of Righteousness, arise,
Triumph o’er the shades of night.
Dayspring from on high, be near;
Day-star, in my heart appear.
2. Dark and cheerless is the morn
Unaccompanied by Thee;
Joyless is the day’s return
Till Thy mercy’s beams I see,
Till they inward light impart,
Glad my eyes, and warm my heart.
3. Visit, then, this soul of mine,
Pierce the gloom of sin and grief;
Fill me, Radiancy Divine,
Scatter all my unbelief.
More and more Thyself display,
Shining to the perfect day.
