Romans 5:6–8 (Listen)
6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Hymn: TLH 760, st. 1,2,4 :
Oh, Love, How Deep
1. Oh, love, how deep, how broad, how high,
Beyond all thought and fantasy,
That God, the son of God, should take
Our mortal form for mortal’s sake!
2. He sent no angel to our race,
Of higher or of lower place,
But wore the robe of human frame,
And to this world himself he came.
4. For us by wickedness betrayed,
For us, in crown of thorns arrayed,
He bore the shameful cross and death;
For us he gave his dying breath.
