School News 2/23/24

The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners – Isaiah 61:1

Storm Volleyball practice Saturday morning 7:30-9:00.

Storm Tournament this Sunday at McPhee in the Olson Addition. Their first match will begin at approximately 9:00am. There are limited bleachers and chairs; you may want to bring a camp chair – spectators in Olson MUST sit on the track! Spectator admission is $3.00; senior citizens and kids under 8 are admitted free. No coolers please. We have a full concession stand with food, snacks, Pepsi/Gatorade products and bottled water. CASH ONLY! No food or beverages are allowed in the gyms (except water).

Bowling Event: Sunday from 1:15-4:15pm. The cost for this event is $7 dollars per student and includes shoes and games for 2 hours. We will meet at Messiah for a devotion and snacks and then head over to Wagners to bowl from 2:00-4:00pm.

Basketball Party: Boys JV and C Team end-of-year party is on Sunday at Coach Sydow’s.  Plan to leave from behind the gym at 3:30pm.

Spring Play Auditions: The Theater Guild will be presenting The Crazy Cowgirls of Pemberley Ranch on April 26th and 27th. Join the fun at Pemberley Ranch with this smart and clever spin on Jane Austen’s great romance! Pride and Prejudice gets a wacky makeover in this tale of money, marriage, and manners set in the Wild West. Play Auditions are Monday from 3:00-4:00 and 4:30-5:30pm, and Wednesday from 3:00-4:00pm. Please have your audition form, which can be found on the credenza outside the office, filled out and ready when you come.

Senior Week in the Dining Hall! Next week (Feb. 26 – Mar.1) will be Senior Week in the dining hall.  This is a week where we have fun appreciating the senior class. The lunch meals for this week were chosen by the seniors as their top 5 meals. Thank them for choosing the yummy meals!

Seniors get a few perks during lunchtime throughout the week, as well…

1. First in line (behind band/tour/workers)
2. Seconds right away
3. A special treat each day

Also, I have created some fun activities relating to the senior class that you are all welcome to participate in. Most of them are based on stories the seniors’ parents sent to me. I wonder if the seniors will even know the answers (how well do they know themselves!?)

There will be a new game each day (Mon – Thur). There will be copies of the game in the AC at the front desk. Students – the first 5 students to show me they’ve completed the game with the correct answers will ‘win’ a special treat! Faculty & Staff – feel free to give them a shot as well. (I reserve the right to only hand out treats to students).

Have fun!

Attention All Gardeners! Hey, before you go purchase your seeds for the spring, consider checking out the seeds the Immanuel Activities Committee has to offer. A member of the CLC managed to rescue between 3000-4000 seed packets that were headed for the dumpster. They are Burpee seeds dated for the 2023 season so are still very viable. They are being offered for a donation to student activities. There are multiple types of every vegetable and flower you can imagine, and some you probably can’t. The seeds will be available at the Grade School Basketball Tournaments held March 8-10, but if you can’t wait, stop by the campus and ask to see the seeds. (A big shout out of thanks to Sophia Carstensen, John Sprengeler, and Aidan Pfennig who took time to sort and organize them.)

ILC summer volleyball camp registration at is now active!
