Yesterday’s Sports Reports:
Track & Field: In near-perfect conditions, our Lancers put in a great performance at Independence. The boys finished 2nd out of 3 teams, while our girls team (with only 5 girls) came in First!
Some highlights include first place finishes by Lydia Kettner (400M & long jump), Marisa Konshak (high jump), Riley Naumann (100 hurdles*), Sheridan Noeldner (triple jump), Suraya Williams (100M*), Caleb Arndt (200M), Micah Fossum (3200M), Cainnin Lone (110 hurdles*), and our girls 4×100 team* (Riley, Suraya, Sheridan, & Lydia) – who also set a new school record in that event!
11 out of our 15 athletes set a new personal best in at least one event! In addition to the ones (*) above, that includes the following: Riley (100 hurdles), Mason Garvens (discus & 200M), Ben Haslett (1600M), Jacob Lillo (shot put & Discus), Alex Radichel (1600M), John Sprengeler (high & long jump), and Luke Strike (100M, 200M, 400M).
Varsity baseball defeated Independence/Gilmanton by a score of 10-0. Christian Schaller pitched a no-hitter and helped get the win with a home run. Win loss record is now 7-1. The only loss is to Melrose-Mindoro who we play again on Monday.
Varsity softball also defeated I/G. The score of the 1st game was 5-0. Claire Schierenbeck hit a 3-run home run over the fence (or as the bookkeeper put it “into the next zip code”). The Lancers won the 2nd game 3-2. Win loss record now is 10-4.
The JV baseball team again jumped out to a big lead of 6-0 and extended that lead to a 12-5 win over Regis.
Coming Up Next: Varsity baseball/softball teams next take on the Lincoln Hornets tonight. Softball is on Hobbs Field at Carson Park. Baseball is on the Immanuel baseball field. Both games start at 4:30. The next game for the JV is a DH this Saturday starting at 9:00 AM. The JV baseball game scheduled for Monday vs Pepin/Alma has been cancelled.
