School News 9/22/23

Indeed, it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared in advance so that we would walk in them. – Ephesians 2:4-5

Man Up! Permissions: If you are going to be missing school for Man Up! (or for any other reason) please remember to fill out a Planned Absence form and get it turned in before you leave campus. Also, make sure your parents have sent permissions to the office and dorm parents

CC Shirt Order: The CC team is taking orders for Immanuel Cross Country shirts. The shirts are going to be black dri-fit. The letters on the front will be green and the cross on the left sleeve and letters on the back are going to be white. The words on the back will be parts of Hebrews 12:1-2. “Let us run with endurance the race set before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith”. The price is $14.00 and orders are due this Sunday, Sep. 24. Payments are due Wednesday, Sep. 27. If you are interested please let Katie Kloke or Laura Schaller know and payments can be made out to Katie Kloke, cash or check. You can email or let them know in person. Here is a link for the shirt design. Thanks!

Biking & Walking Safely: Please remember to wear light colored clothing and have some lights and/or reflectors while biking and walking around town. Especially along Grover Road there is poor lighting. One of our parents commented, “Last night as I left campus two students were biking and turned right onto Grover. I saw them ahead before I made my turn. Once I did get on Grover I knew they were in front of me, but it took a bit to locate them because they only had one simple reflector on each bike.” Please consider the protection a small investment in lights and reflectors provides!

Cross Country Report: The rolling hills of Rolling Greens golf course in Durand made for a hilly but nice course for our largest meet yet – 24 teams. The boys were ready to go and down to the final countdown when lightning was reported in the area, which by rule means the races have to be delayed. Thankfully we didn’t get any rain or storms where we were, and the races were able to go ahead with only about a 45-minute delay. The wait time did throw off our runners’ focus, so we worked to get mentally and physically prepared again. The course wasn’t as flat as the last two, but we still had 4 runners who managed to post their best times of the season: Chris Koenig, Dulton Eberhardt, Tyler Gallaher, and Alek Daub. Micah Fossum stuck with the leaders the whole race and added a second-place medal to his collection, and our guys team finished 6th. We’ve got a week to prepare our next meet at Osseo Golf Course on Sept 28th, where we’ll be joined by the Middle School runners from Messiah.
