Educational Philosophy

The central goal of Immanuel Lutheran College is to impart growth in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Our specific aim is to prepare future leaders for Christ's Church on earth. In general we strive to nurture an enlightened membership for our congregations, helping young men and women to be well-versed in Scripture and its application to life.

A Battle Plan

When a Christian child leaves home, he moves out of a secure environment and into a battlefield. Instead of taking this step so quickly, consider the wisdom of attending a school that will prepare you for the warfare. In the colleges and universities of this world, you will find a battlefield that will prove challenging to your faith. If you are not armed for the battle, you may find yourself suffering at the hands of your spiritual enemies. We recommend gathering all the armor that you can before you go into battle. At ILC we are engaged in the work of arming students for this battle. Those who attend ILC before going to another school find themselves more prepared to fight the good fight of faith.

"Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." (Eph. 6:10-13)

Our Degree Programs

The following are our four-year degree programs:

• Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education - prepares for teaching in our CLC schools
• Bachelor of Arts in Pre-Theology - prepares for seminary which trains young men for the pastoral ministry in our CLC churches
• Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies - prepares for a life-long foundation in the Word of God

We also offer a two-year Associate of Arts degree in liberal arts courses.  This can be very useful for those young adults who are still trying to figure out where the Lord is leading them in life.  By taking courses in religious studies and in general studies, one can be led to a personal discovery of what gifts the Lord has provided for his or her future in life.  The Associate Arts program can also provide preliminary coursework to help aid students to go on for further academic pursuits.
