Pastor and Professor Emeritus David Lau was called home to his eternal rest yesterday evening surrounded by family.  Romans 8 was read to him by a family member shortly before his passing: “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39  Pastor Lau preached for many years before serving at Immanuel from 1991 to 2005, and even in his “retirement” he continued as chapel speaker and helped out with the seminary library and as a substitute seminary teacher (in addition to other preaching and writing assignments that he also continued after he retired from the public ministry). His lasting connection to ILC is that four of his five children or their spouses and a grandson currently work at ILC, as well as his numerous grandchildren that have attended or are now attending ILHS. We rejoice that Pastor Lau is right now in the presence of His savior, even as we pray for the Lord to comfort his loved ones who will be missing him.
“Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, and their works follow them.” Revelation 14:13
